Quarantine
How to use the Quarantine register in Brytebuild — viewing held containers, understanding hold statuses (Awaiting inspection, Reject hold MRB, held >30 days), completing inspections and resolving rejected stock via NCRs.

What is the Quarantine register?

The Quarantine register is the ISO 9001 §8.7 (Nonconforming outputs) hub in Brytebuild. Every container of stock that cannot be released to production, dispatch or sale is held here until a quality decision is made. Stock enters quarantine automatically — you never need to manually add items.
- Goods-in containers held pending a QC inspection on receipt
- Works-order outputs placed in quarantine when an inspection plan is triggered
- Rejected containers flagged with Reject hold (MRB) after an inspection fails — awaiting a Material Review Board disposition decision
- Any container held longer than 30 days is highlighted as aging stock
PO Receipt
Stock received against a Purchase Order (e.g. PO-2026-0011) and held pending goods-in inspection. Released once the inspection passes.
Works Order Output
Finished goods produced by a work order (e.g. WO-2026-0041) held when an inspection plan is attached to the product. Released once QC passes.
Incoming Goods
The inspection plan type shown in the Plan column when a container is held on receipt — indicates which inspection checklist applies to the held lot.
Reject hold (MRB)
Container rejected during inspection and awaiting a Material Review Board decision. An NCR is raised automatically and linked in the NCR column.

The Quarantine register

Navigate to Quality → Quarantine. The page opens on the full register showing all held containers. Use the stat banners at the top to triage the most urgent items.

Hold statuses explained

Every row in the register has a Status that determines what action is available and where the stock stands in the quality workflow. In the example register above there are 3 rows awaiting inspection, 1 on reject hold, and 1 container held beyond 30 days (the M8 Hex Bolts — Grade 8.8 at 34 days).
Awaiting inspection
The container arrived or was produced and is held pending a quality inspection. No stock movement is permitted until the inspection passes. Click Inspect to open the inspection worksheet.

The container was inspected and failed. An NCR has been auto-raised. The MRB (Material Review Board) must decide: scrap, rework, return to supplier, or accept as-is. Click Open NCR to action.

The container has been in quarantine for more than 30 days without resolution. The Days Held counter shows the exact count in red with a warning symbol. These require urgent management attention.

Column reference

| Product | The product name linked to this container. A sub-line shows the Lot number (e.g. LOT-2026-00019) when lot tracking is enabled for the product. |
| Container | The unique barcode / container ID for this specific held unit (e.g. 632E1489). Shown in monospace — matches the barcode label on the physical container. |
| Qty Held | How many units of the product are inside this container (e.g. 200 ea). A single inspection covers the full quantity in that container. |
| Warehouse | The warehouse location where the container is physically stored while held (e.g. Development Warehouse). Blank for containers not yet assigned to a bin. |
| Source | How the container entered quarantine. Either PO receipt (with a link to the Purchase Order, e.g. PO-2026-0033) or Works order (with the work order reference). |
| Status | Awaiting inspection — held pending QC. Reject hold (MRB) — failed inspection, NCR raised, awaiting disposition decision. |
| NCR | Auto-populated when a container moves to Reject hold. Shows the linked NCR reference (e.g. NCR-2026-0008). Blank for items still awaiting inspection. |
| Disposition | The MRB decision recorded on the NCR: Quarantine, Scrap, Rework, Return to Supplier, or Accept as-is. Blank until the NCR is actioned. |
| Days Held | How many calendar days this container has been in quarantine. Shown in red with a ⚠ warning symbol once it exceeds 30 days. |
| Plan | The name of the inspection plan linked to this container (e.g. Steel Bracket 50mm Offset, Incoming goods). Blank when no matching plan has been set up. |
| Resolve | Inspect — opens the inspection worksheet to record pass/fail results. Open NCR — opens the linked NCR record to record disposition and investigation. |
A very high Days Held count typically means the container has been in quarantine since the product was first set up with an inspection plan, but the plan was never completed or the container was never matched to a plan. Go to Products → Edit Item → QC tab to assign an inspection plan, then complete the inspection to clear the hold.
Section 05
Actioning a hold

Clearing an Awaiting inspection hold
Click Inspect on any row with Awaiting inspection status. This opens the inspection worksheet for that container — pre-filled with the product, lot number, quantity and the linked inspection plan checklist.
- Record pass/fail quantities and fill in the checklist criteria
- If all quantities pass — the container is released from quarantine and stock becomes available
- If any quantity is rejected — the container moves to Reject hold (MRB) and an NCR is auto-raised
If the Plan column is blank, no inspection plan has been set up for this product. Go to Products → Edit Item → QC tab to create and attach an inspection plan. Without a plan the Inspect button opens a generic inspection form.
Resolving a Reject hold (MRB)
Click Open NCR on any row with Reject hold (MRB) status. This opens the linked NCR record (e.g. NCR-2026-0008). From the NCR edit page you must:
- Record the Root Cause and Immediate Correction
- Set the Disposition on the Rejected Stock table — Scrap, Rework, Return to Supplier, or Accept as-is
- Raise any required CAPA actions
- Close the NCR once all CAPAs are resolved
Containers in Reject hold (MRB) cannot be picked, transferred or used in any work order until a disposition is applied via the NCR. Closing the NCR with a Scrap or Return to Supplier disposition will write the stock off and remove it from the register.
