Shop Floor — live production board
The Shop Floor gives supervisors a real-time view of every Work Centre — what is running now, who is operating it, and what is queued next. Refreshes automatically every 15 seconds.
Section 01
What is the Shop Floor?

The Shop Floor page lives under Planning › Shop Floor. It shows every configured Work Centre as a card, updated silently every 15 seconds. Currently there are 2 Work Centres — CNC2 (Idle) and Mil 1 (Active).
- Mil 1 is running WO-2026-0004 "New workorder for sales 101" with 4 operations queued up next
- CNC2 has nothing running or queued at this time
- Click any operation row to jump to the full Works Order detail page for that WO
- The page is read-only — to reschedule operations, use the Capacity Planner
- The queue order in each card reflects exactly what the Capacity Planner has sequenced
The Shop Floor is a live monitoring view — it shows what is happening right now across CNC2 and Mil 1. The Capacity Planner is where you take action — drag bars to reschedule, run the finite-capacity scheduler, and view the Gantt timeline. Monitor on Shop Floor; plan on Capacity Planner.

Below the header, a white summary bar shows the headline count of active and idle Work Centres and a reminder that rows are clickable.

Work Centre cards

Each Work Centre appears as its own card. The border and header background show status immediately — green border for Active, grey border for Idle. Both cards are shown below.

Running Now section

Within an Active card, the Running Now section shows the single operation currently in progress. The row is highlighted green to distinguish it clearly from the queued operations below it.

Up Next queue

Below the running operation, the Up Next queue lists all operations scheduled to follow at that Work Centre, in sequence order. Mil 1 currently has 4 queued. The order matches exactly what the Capacity Planner has scheduled.

The Up Next order is determined by the Capacity Planner. To change which operations run first on Mil 1, go to Planning › Capacity Planner, drag the bars into the desired sequence, and the Shop Floor will reflect the new order on its next 15-second refresh.
Section 07
Work Centre status states

Each Work Centre card can be in one of three states. The state is determined by whether an operation is currently being run on that Work Centre and whether it has been taken offline in Work Centre settings.
An operation is currently running. Green card border, green header, pulsing status dot. Mil 1 is currently Active — WO-2026-0004 is running.
No operation running. The Work Centre is available but has nothing started. CNC2 is currently Idle with nothing in its queue.
The Work Centre has been taken offline (e.g. for maintenance). The Capacity Planner will not schedule operations to it until it is brought back online in Work Centres settings.
Section 08
Live updates — every 15 seconds

The Shop Floor polls the server every 15 seconds and silently refreshes all card data — no page reload, no disruption. The Last updated timestamp in the header advances each cycle.
- If an operator starts an operation on a Works Order, it moves from Up Next into Running Now and the card turns Active
- If an operator completes an operation, it is removed and the next queued operation automatically moves up
- If a Work Centre finishes all operations, its card reverts to Idle with the empty state message
- The Active and Idle counts in the summary bar update in step with the cards
You cannot start, pause, or complete operations from the Shop Floor page. Operators interact with their works orders via the Works Order detail page. The Shop Floor is a supervisor monitoring view — it shows what is happening, not a control panel for changing it.
