Packing
Pack lists for outbound orders — create No Delivery Order and Delivery Order packs, scan barcodes and manage the three-stage packing lifecycle.
Section 01
What is Packing?

Packing records the physical packing of outbound items — it follows picking and precedes dispatch. Each record logs what was packed, by whom, when, and links to a delivery order for a complete fulfilment audit trail.
- Two types: No Delivery Order (standalone) or For a Delivery Order (linked to a specific outbound delivery). Fixed after creation.
- Packed quantities are entered line by line — manually or via barcode scan (Tracked Stock toggle). A QR code is generated per record for physical tracking.
- Lifecycle: Not Started → In Progress → Collected. Collected packs are locked.
Packing sits after picking in the outbound fulfilment workflow. Picking reserves and consumes stock; packing records what was boxed and links to the delivery order for dispatch. Use picking for stock movement, packing for physical packing confirmation.
Section 02
Creating a packing record — No Delivery Order

Click + Add Packing to open the packing creation form. It has four sections: General (name and notes), Packing For (standalone or delivery-linked), Scheduling (pack date/time), and Item List (inventory search and item selection).

Section 03
Creating a pack linked to a delivery order

Select For a Delivery Order in the Packing For section to link this pack to an outbound delivery. The linked delivery order details (warehouse, shipper, dispatch date, arrival) will appear in a dedicated panel on the packing detail record. The packing type is fixed at creation and cannot be changed afterwards.

Section 04
Packing detail record

Click View on any packing row to open the full record. The header shows the pack reference, type and status badges, and a KPI strip. The main body shows Packing Details, Notes, and the Packing List table. A Barcode / QR panel sits on the right sidebar — and if the pack is linked to a delivery order, a Delivery Order panel appears below it.

Section 05
Barcode scanning

To scan a product barcode against a packing line, enable the Tracked Stock toggle on that item's row in the Packing List table. This opens the Scan a Product modal — scanning records the packed quantity against that specific line. The Print Barcode footer button is separate and only prints the pack's QR label.
In the Packing List table, flip the Tracked Stock toggle ON for a line to open the Scan a Product modal for that item. Scan the barcode and the Packed Qty updates automatically. Print Barcode (footer) is for printing the pack's QR label only — it does not open the scan modal.

Section 06
Editing a packing record

Click Edit Packing from the footer to open the edit form. The edit form is different from the create form in two key ways: the Name field is not editable (only Notes is shown in General), and the Packing For type is fixed — shown read-only with a "Fixed on edit" label.
The packing type is fixed after creation and cannot be changed.

The Packing For type (No Delivery Order vs For Delivery Order) cannot be changed after the packing record is created. If the wrong type was selected, cancel the record and create a new one.
